BACON AND POTATOES pantry unit

George and I had a nice long weekend, this Victoria Day holiday.
We were able to get away on a couple day trips that we enjoyed.
I did a little painting, got some deliveries done, finished unpacking from the Mothers day Sale,
re-arranged an entire room that I will share with you soon,
and got these photos taken of a new pantry unit I did.

I always have a ton of ideas running through my head and this unit was
pulled out to try another. However that went south when I realized the measurements
of the unit fit the needs one of my customers has for a kitchen piece.

The graphics used on this pantry unit were made from
a pair of old grocery store produce signs I found on line.

BEFORE  and AFTER
It started as a 70s maple china cabinet.
I altered the upper part quite a bit to provide the open shelving needed for dry goods storage.

This pantry unit was painted in ASCP Old White and waxed with Minwax Natural.
The interior is painted in a grey mixed from ASCP colors.
The graphics were handpainted with jet black acrylic paint.
The drawer handles and door pulls are reproduction glass.

I hope you like the outcome as much as I do!

SOFA TABLE FROM A SEWING TABLE parts used to build

I built this sofa table starting with a sewing machine cabinet I purchased at a thrift store.
The finish was in fair shape but many of the moving wood parts didnt work properly anymore,
and the machine wouldnt lift out of the cabinet to use.

The legs are what really caught my attention from across the store.

Once I started to work on removing the machine I found a makers mark on the cabinet.

Made In Yugoslavia ... The machine is a Piedmont from the Hudsons Bay Company.

Anyone need parts for their Piedmont?

I was able to take the whole cabinet apart to start rebuilding a longer table.
I used a kick board for the front, and aged, stained, and waxed some new wood for the top.

Heres a close up of the finish I created for the top.

This sofa / console table went to its new home shortly after I finished it.

TIME TO BREAK THE GLASS art frames and chalkboards

Take a look at some beautiful frame sets

Frame set are meant to be art all on their own. They create drama thru color and texture.
**No glass was actually broken in the making** Hang them on the wall, lean them on a surface,
display your favorite things, Versatile and Beautiful. Collected over time most of these frames were
 emptied before I found them.

Retro Baby!!!

I'm so excited to share my new piece! Now I know not everyone is into
the Mad Men style, but these vintage pieces are just so darn fun to do!
I got a phone call from one of my "contacts" asking if I wanted this stuff. She cleared out
a container and this mid century dining set was part of it.
Behold the $65 "set".....
These chairs were sooooo gross. Greasy??? OMG. Smelly??? OMG. I gloved up on these babies.

So much grease and grime.  I don't even want to know.  But I saw potential!!
I know.  Ewwww. Right??

Ok.  Ready???

Many, many,,,,,many (lol) hours later.....
I discovered that beneath all the grime, they were actually in very good shape.

ARTICLES DE PARIS french dressing chest

ONE MONTH TO WIN IT
craft competition started last week so
I stopped in to see all the project for the week and to cast my vote.
There are 12 compeditors and each week there is a required subject to work with.
The first week brought many projects using graphics from the well known site
THE GRAPHICS FAIRY

It just so happened there was a great lingerie chest revamp that definetly stuck out in the competition.
I love a great furniture redo.
FREDDY AND PETUNIA
Mean while I had a dresser stuck in the corner of my work room needing a little something special.

Heres what I did and the image I used.

After altering the printout into 9 reverse sheets from the computer, trimming it, taping it together and positioning it on the drawers it took an hour and a half to burnish the transfer onto the surface.

My hands and arms do get sore because I don’t stop once I start because
I dont want to risk the image shifting.

Michaels has tons of Sharpie Markers for all sorts of projects.
Who could ask for more than paint in a pen. I bought 2 brown
paint pens for this dresser.

I talked about using Sharpies when I first did my TRAVEL CHEST

Once finished I sanded all the drawer faces for an aged look.

Then they get waxed and buffed.
